Matt begin his web development experience as a senior in high school working directly on the school district website. From there, he continued his passion for web development through college where he was selected to intern at 2 popular sister radio stations, KISS 108 and Jam'n 94.5 in Boston. Soon after his internship opportunity was over, Matt was hired full time as the assistant webmaster. He participated in the redesign and deployment of both of the stations website redesigns with assistance from the corporate headquarters of Clear Channel Radio. He also was the primary videographer for all of the stations concert and radio events for posting on the website. Unfortunatly, due to budget cuts at the end of 2005, Matt's position was eliminated.
Following the radio station opportunity, Matt landed himself at a fantastic opportunity at a creative staffing agency known as Aquent. He was hired to be the Webmaster, responsible for maintaining the corporate pubic, extranet and intranet websites. A few months into the position, a major project was assigned to which Matt was helping to project manage. This project was a redesign and redevelopment of the main Aquent website. After this project was complete, another project was initiated where the corporate website was recreated for about 30 offices around the world that Aquent does business in. All of the pages were statically built with XHTML, CSS and Javascript with some minor server-side technologies implemented for easy updates to site footers and common content.
Matt was in constant communication with all of the higher leveled managers and departments on a daily basis. He was the go-to person for all major site updates and changes and he coordinated timelines for tasks as quick as a text change to projects that could last a few months at a time.
Unfortunately 2 1/2 years of hard work and built relationships with the company came to a close with the reorganization of his department and the elimination of his position.
Presently, Matt is now working at Aspen Technology as the Online Marketing Professional. His responsibility is to format and launch HTML emails for the Marketing Department on a daily basis. This includes taking an HTML template, applying the copy to it, sending it for approval and once approved, launching it to the company database related to the content of the email.
In his spare time, he works with clients on freelance projects, spends time at the gym and outside when it is nice and enjoys listening to his favorite music. He hopes to continue to grow with the web technologies as well as being an integral part of the community, volunteering for groups to help support those who want to strive to reach the top.
